Lady of The Thames

A silent call went out today

The day the whale came our way

Where many a man had tried before

Mother natures ambassador came to our shore

Leaving a message we just cant ignore.

She let out her call so loud and so clear

For people to gather, from far and from near

A message so often, so few of us hear..

To put up our hands and say we really care,

And that's just what they did as the worlds cameras stared

The banks of the Thames just came to a hush

No time for shopping

Or mid morning rush

They dashed across bridges

In the hope of a sight

Of the bottle nosed whale on her desperate plight.

As her plight grew more hopeless

We all hoped and prayed

But by 6.55 She had started to fade

As the barge did its U turn

There was many a tear

Then realisation, she'd been ever so near

But her chance of survival

Had drifted away

Leaving a legacy, here now to stay

A coming together

Of people who care

Like BDMLR

Who have always been there.

Warriors of the rainbow,

Out shining bright

Because of her visit

We now join the fight

Accepting the calling

No longer deaf ears

We thank you dear lady

For making us hear.
